take a nautilus
abstracted
extruded
an extended pattern
subtending straightened angles
from tread to tread
softened by moonlight
sunrise
or a warm glow from our garden, reflected
dividing
and joining
the floors we inhabit
the kitchen you share with me
the study I share with you
in the hidden shelf between the floors
our cool stash of chocolate
consumed when descending
